A few words from Betty Merrill:
“As many of you know I am the new manager at The Highland Thrift Shop. I have found it quite interesting to learn about the history and the individuals who have made the store successful as it is today.   So, I would like to share some of that information with you (the customer).
The Highland Thrift Shop opened on June 8, 1987.  The first deposit to the banks was for $25.26.  The store relocated to a front room in the Casselman Ventures building on October 8, 1987.  The store moved again to its current location (in the old school gymnasium) January of 2009.
The Highland Thrift Store is run by a board. The board
members decide on all the  financial and business practices
associated with the store.
The current board members are:
Arthur Green: Chairman/2000
Bev Spiker: Secretary/2015
Kathy Overholt: Treasurer/2012
Regina Holliday: Member/2013
Diana Detrick: Member/2016
Betty Merrill: Manager/2016

A few words from Betty:
“As many of you know there is a new manager at The Highland Thrift Shop.
My name is Betty Merrill. I have been married to Jason Merrill for 16 years.
We live on Chestnut Ridge Road in Grantsville with our two children.  We have a son, Garrett Merrill, who is 14 and a daughter, Adrianna Merrill, who is 11. Many of you probably recognize me from the Shop ’n Save, where I was a store manager. I look forward to meeting all of our customers."

The board of The Highland Thrift Shop is very happy that Betty joined us in
fulfilling our mission of providing a safe, clean, and affordable place to shop.  Betty is very involved in the local community and Boy Scout Pack 460.  Please say hello on your next visit.
